Um estudo publicado pelo Internacional Journal of Cancer revela que o chá reduz o risco de cálculos biliares e de cancro, sobretudo em mulheres. O chá verde é referido pela autora do estudo, Ann W.Hsing, como o mais eficaz neste tipo de prevenção.
No estudo foram observados os casos de 627 doentes com cancro nos cálculos biliares, sendo comparados a 959 sem historial clínico neste domínio. Deste últimos, 40% eram consumidores de chá. Esta categoria incluiu todos quantos bebiam pelo menos uma chavena por dia durante seis meses.
Os resultados revelaram que os efeitos do chá eram mais marcantes no caso das mulheres. Em 27% o risco de cálculos biliares desapareceu e em 44% ficou afastada a hipótese de cancro na vesícula. A investigadora admite que certos químicos no chá tenham uma ação anti-inflamatória, impedindo por isso o crescimento anormal das células.
